THE DEATH OF A INNOCENT MAN

Lawrence Sisman, an ex- US Air Force Captain decided to go into a different kind of business after spending most of his life as a produce salesman. It was a dream come true when he was given the opportunity to open a nude club in the back room of the Pines Night Club in Coitsville Township. He enjoyed the excitement and notoriety it brought him as he associated with the nude dancers and many of the questionable characters that patronized his place.

Mark Batcho was a customer that attended the club and was supposedly one of his friends. Batcho was also a close friend of Ernie Biondillo, who he idolized to the point of having Ernie’s face tattooed on his body. Batcho had tried to get Ernie to accept him as a member of his tight net group, but Ernie didn’t quite trust him.

Ernie avoided Batcho as much as possible. Batcho was somewhat of a loner and wanted to be recognized as a mob guy. This was his ambition when he joined a burglary gang that robbed jewelry stores in and around the Youngstown area. When Batcho was younger , he entered into “Tuff Men’s contest” which were held at local clubs around town. You would often see him bandaged from the injuries he acquired while fighting. Batcho had a temper and was known to carry a knife which he used to cut and scar the face of a member of his gang for some unknown reason.

Batcho on occasion witnessed Sisman having serious discussions with Ernie and thought Ernie had an investment in the club; Batcho thought Ernie was not happy with Sisman and took it upon himself to take matters into his own hands.

In the early hours of the morning in March of 1996, Sisman closed the nude club and drove to his apartment complex on the south side. He was not aware that Batcho had been waiting in the shadows. As Sisman was walking out of the carport, Batcho shot him, took his receipts and left him to die in the apartment driveway.

Batcho thought that killing Sisman would give him recognition as a potential Mafia person and Ernie would take him in as a partner to run the club. When Ernie realized what Batcho had done, he called him a wacko and completely avoided him. Batcho than became involved with Bernie the jew and his gang of dope peddlers who were also killers.

He was later arrested in 1997 for the attempted murder of Prosecutor Paul Gains and the shooting of Attorney Gary VanBrocklin. He is also doing time for the Sisman murder and remains in prison at this time.

I wonder how he feels about being a mob guy while doing time behind bars in a maximum prison.
